How the Secret Santa draw works

  1. Create a room

    Name the room, choose how long it should exist, and set your name and a PIN. You are the admin.

  2. Share the link

    Send the room link via WhatsApp, Signal or email to everyone taking part. Each person joins with a name and their own PIN – no account needed.

  3. Draw names

    Once everyone is in, click “Draw”. Afterwards each person logs in and sees only their own match.

Frequently asked questions

What is Secret Santa?

In a Secret Santa (also known as Kris Kringle, Wichteln or Julklapp) everyone in a group secretly draws one person to give a present to. Everyone receives exactly one gift, and nobody has to shop for the whole group.

How does an online Secret Santa work without emails?

Instead of emails there is a room link. Everyone joins with a name and a PIN and checks their own match after the draw. You can simply post the link in your group chat.

Can I stop couples from drawing each other?

Yes. Before the draw, the admin sets who must not draw whom in a matrix – mutual or one-way.

Can the admin see who drew whom?

Only on purpose: the admin can reveal single assignments, for example when someone forgot their PIN. Everything else stays hidden.

What happens to the data?

Only the room name, participant names, PIN hashes and the assignments are stored – until the chosen expiry date. Then everything is deleted automatically. There are no accounts, no email addresses and no IP logs.

Can names be redrawn?

No, the draw is final. If you need a new draw, just create a new room – it takes a minute.

Can I delete a room early?

Yes. As admin you'll find a “Delete room” button at the bottom of the room. It removes all participants, exclusions and assignments immediately and for good – also after the draw.

How many participants are possible?

At least 3 and up to 100 per room.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There is no sign-up, no subscription and no paid extras.
